Are you a recent Psychology Graduate looking for a Teaching Assistant role in a Secondary School? Teaching Personnel are working in partnership with a large Secondary academy in Bolton. The school are currently looking to obtain several Psychology Graduate Teaching Assistants to join their team in the new academic year (September 2019).

This position is perfect for a recent Psychology Graduate who is hoping for a future career in Secondary teaching, as it will provide experience before entering into a teacher training programme.

  • Psychology graduates are welcome to apply for this position
  • Full-time and part-time Teaching Assistant positions available for September 2019
  • Working alongside the class teacher, and supporting students in classes aged 11-16
  • Must be comfortable working with children whose first language is not English
  • Possibility of covering pre-planned lessons in the absence of the class teacher
  • Any experience with SEN pupils is highly valued
  • Gain some experience prior to beginning teacher training/PGCE
  • Dependent on previous experience, earn up to £300 per week

With over 900 pupils, the school is in need of extra staff to guarantee students are supported and that teachers also have the help they require in the classroom. As a Psychology Graduate Teaching Assistant within our client school, responsibilities will include working 1:1 with identified pupils that require additional support within the subject specialism. Further responsibilities incorporate supporting the class teacher, covering lessons in the absence of the teacher and delivering intervention sessions to raise overall pupil attainment.

Our client school has a number of pupils with SEN and applicants should be prepared of the possibility of working with these pupils. Applicants will require being comfortable working with children where English is not their first language. This experience will enhance future teacher training applications, and could result in a direct placement with the client school.

Located in the Bolton area, our client school can be accessed via the M61 and A676 from surrounding areas such as Bury, Wigan and Salford. For non-drivers, there are several forms of public transportation with links to the surrounding areas of Greater Manchester.
