A SEMH Special School in Chigwell, London are looking for Primary Teacher with experience in working with pupils with SEMH needs for their year 4/5 class. Initially the school are looking to appoint on an ongoing temporary basis and this role could become permanent for the correct candidate.
The school are looking for a long term, committed staff. The school are looking for a passionate and experienced Teacher who has the training and a good understanding of the needs of SEMH and BESD pupils. The correct candidate will teach a class of up to 8 or 9 students with SEMH statements and will be responsible for the support behaviour, learning and progress of these students and be ably assistaed by behaviour support assistants. These students also reside at the school after school hours and so their education makes up a large amount of their daily structure.
This school specialises in SEMH and supports pupils aged from 5 – 11. They use a creative and nurturing approach and focus on life skills as well as a unique token system to reward positive behaviour for students.
The school are looking for people who have worked in a similar setting and have something new to offer. To work in this environment, you must have excellent Behaviour Management skills and have the patience to support young people from challenging and vulnerable backgrounds. The position is to give support to these young individuals, give guidance, counselling and support, as well as supporting their behaviour and learning in class.

The School always places young people at the centre of all decisions it takes and it has a relentless focus on achieving the best possible outcomes for every student. Most students only stay with the school for 2 terms before reintegrating into mainstream schools.

The successful applicants will require an enhanced DBS check that is on the update service and references will be taken up before interview.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
