Primary Tutor

One of our key Local Authority clients are looking for a tutor to support a Looked After pupil who is in Year 6 and based in the NG13 area, every morning from 9.30 - 12am. 

Initially we will be looking for tutors to offer online teaching whilst the lockdown restrictions are still in place, with a view to moving out to the residential home where the pupil resides once restrictions are lifted.

The student is extremely disaffected and vulnerable, having suffered from domestic abuse, neglect and other trauma inducing circumstances including close family bereavement, parental drug and alcohol misuse and aggressive behaviour The student can display some challenging behaviour towards his peers and has previously been excluded from mainstream school. He is working at significantly below age related expectations due to undiagnosed learning needs.

We are looking for a tutor with the following experience:

• Experience teaching core subjects to primary pupils (a good working knowledge of the KS1 and early KS2 curriculum would be preferred)
• Able to quickly build a positive, nurturing relationship that encourages the development of confidence and self-esteem
• Experience working with disaffected and disengaged pupils who may present with challenging behaviour
• Confident to deal with safeguarding concerns efficiently and appropriately
• Experienced working with Looked After Children, with a good understanding of how childhood trauma can impact current behaviour and emotions, and an awareness of Attachment Disorder
• Confident to teach using a creative, differentiated approach according to the pupil's needs and current mood
• Experience tutoring on a 1:1 basis, where you have planned and delivered all of the work independently
• Some experience of online teaching platforms such as Bramble, Google Classrooms or similar is helpful but not essential

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
