Job description

A Salford Primary School are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team and provide one-to-one support for a Year 3 pupil with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. This is a fantastic opportunity to make a real difference in a child’s life and contribute to their academic and personal development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to implement tailored strategies and interventions.
  • Provide consistent emotional and behavioural support to help the pupil engage positively in learning.
  • Adapt activities and resources to meet individual needs.
  • Foster a safe, nurturing environment that promotes resilience and confidence.
  • Liaise with parents, carers, and external professionals as required.

Requirements:

  • Experience supporting children with SEMH needs (school-based experience preferred).
  • Strong understanding of behaviour management strategies.
  • Patience, empathy, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • Ability to build positive relationships and maintain clear boundaries.
  • Relevant qualifications (Level 2/3 TA or equivalent) desirable.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
