Job Title: Temporary Teaching Assistant - 1:1 Support for Pupil with Autism

Location: Cardiff

Duration: September 2024 - July 2025 (whole academic year initially)

Job Type: Temporary Teaching Assistant

Pay: £83.85 per day

Hours: Monday to Friday, term time (8:30-3:30)

Job Description:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support to a pupil with Autism starting Reception in September 2024. The successful candidate will work closely with the pupil's teacher and other support staff to help them develop academically, socially, and emotionally.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide individualised support to the pupil with Autism, focusing on their academic and social/emotional needs.
  • Work closely with the pupil's teacher to develop and implement individualised learning plans.
  • Assist the pupil with daily tasks and activities, including communication, social skills, and emotional regulation.
  • Support the pupil's transition into Reception and throughout the academic year.
  • Communicate effectively with parents, teachers, and other support staff to ensure a cohesive approach to the pupil's support.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with pupils with Autism or similar special educational needs.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work flexibly and adapt to changing circumstances.
  • Knowledge of autism and its impact on learning and development.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Good understanding of child development and learning principles
  • Full vetting checks will be completed.

Duration:

Initially for the whole academic year (September 2024 - July 2025) with potential extension or permanent contract

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
