Teaching Assistants needed for special school North Bristol/South Glos

An Independent Special School providing specialist education for pupils aged 5 to 19 years with a range of needs resulting in severe and complex learning difficulties, many of which are resident at a children's home that shares the site. They are located between Thornbury and North Brisol.

You will be working on a 1:1 or small group basis.Their policy is championing achievement and belonging and to constantly tailor their education approach to make sure each child gets the maximum from their time at the school. They were set up by professionals who wanted to come together to make a difference and empower uniqueness, so a positive and ambitious attitude towards equal education is essential!

We are looking for:

• A calm & kind, but proactive & resourceful attitude and a sense of humour

• Strong interpersonal skills, in order to communicate with families, carers and a multidisciplinary team of teaching staff, social workers and educational psychologists

• Understanding of safeguarding

• Understanding of and commitment to of the needs of pupils with Severe and Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties and Autism

• Candidates in manual handling and Team Teach de-escalation are desired, however we can happily provide training for this

Positive experience of working in an SEN environment is a bonus, however we value candidates from youth work/education backgrounds and beyond who display the right attitude and aptitude to work with children who can support pupils to blossom in a calm and nurturing environment, where their specific needs and achievement are put first.
