A good secondary SEN School based in South East London are currently recruiting SEN Teaching Assistants for general TA positions and 1-1 support roles.
There is a roll of 70 students aged between 11 and 19. Students have a range of complex needs, predominantly known as severe learning difficulties (SLD) or profound and multiple learning difficulties (PMLD). These terms describe learners who are progressing at significantly slower rates than their age-related peers. Around half of their students also have autism. Many students have severely impaired communication needs some have a range of medical needs which require daily support and a group who exhibit severe challenging behaviours.
The SEN Teaching Assistant role
• To support and engage with the SEN pupils in class
• Assist the teacher where possible
• Assess and track progress of pupils
• Help clean and ensure the classroom is ready for the next school day
• This is a long term full time role ( Monday – Friday 8:30am until 16:45pm)
• Support pupils with their personal care
The Ideal SEN Teaching Assistant should have a proven track record in supporting students with complex needs as part of a team and working positively in a demanding, multi-disciplinary environment.
