Pastoral Officer – Challenging Behaviour
Full-time, Skelmersdale – Immediate Start
We are seeking a dedicated and resilient Pastoral Officer to join a specialist secondary provision in the Skelmersdale area. This role will focus on supporting pupils with a range of social, emotional and mental health needs, as well as those presenting with challenging behaviour.
The successful candidate will:
- Provide pastoral support to pupils across school, working closely with the safeguarding and leadership team.
- Support young people to engage positively with their learning and overcome barriers to education.
- Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils, staff and families.
- Act as a key contact for behaviour management and intervention strategies.
Ideal candidates will have:
- Previous experience in a pastoral, youth work or behaviour support role.
- Confidence in managing challenging behaviour with a calm, consistent approach.
- Strong communication and resilience, with the ability to de-escalate conflict.
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
This is a full-time role to start immediately, initially through agency with the opportunity to move onto a direct contract with the school.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
