Teaching Personnel are recruiting for an Ofsted rated 'good' school in Birmingham, which require a pastoral lead (Secondary school)
As pastoral lead you will be supporting students who require additional support for their overall development including academically, socially, and emotionally. These students are vulnerable so require a nurturing, safe environment for them to be able to become confident and further their independence. You may be required to be in close contact with pupils’ family members and other outside agencies to provide pupils with a full support system around them. You will need to differentiate your planning, teaching and activities to meet the needs of each pupil you are supporting as they will all have different needs and coping mechanisms. Within this role, the support may not be restricted to solely supporting the pupil in school, you may be expected to support family members during this time i.e. providing them with strategies that could possibly be implemented outside of school to ensure that the routine and strategies are the consistent.
REQUIREMENTS FOR THIS ROLE
- Relevant experience working in KS3 and KS4.
- DBS certification or willingness to obtain one.
- Willing to work with students with challenging behaviour.
- Class control and behaviour management skills.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Degree is desirable.
- Experience working in a pastoral position required.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
- Have vast knowledge and understanding of the school curriculum.
- Assess and monitor students progress across the academic year.
- Encourage and motivate the learning of the pupils.
- Be able to understand students emotionally, socially and academically.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
