Part time SEN teaching assistant supply staff, SEN schools

Learning Support Assistant staff required to work in 3 large SEN schools across the South Croydon, Addington and Purley areas on a part time and day to day basis.

If you have experience supporting children or adults with special educational needs and are looking for part time work as a teaching assistant, this opportunity could be suitable for you. You will be working with children who have severe learning difficulties including non-verbal autism, down syndrome and some physical disabilities too.

These schools regularly use agency staff to cover absences due to sickness, training courses, trips, medical appointments, holiday, jury service and other planned absences.

For this kind of work you will need the following:

  • Experience of working with special needs, including mild to severe autism
  • An understanding of how to use PECs or Makaton is desirable
  • Any of the following training is desirable - PECs, Makaton, Autism Awareness, Moving and Handling, Multi-Sensory Impairment, Safeguarding, Team Teach
  • References from your previous employers
  • Proof of eligibility to work in the UK
  • Be able to work an 08:30am start and a 15:30pm finish each day
