A school in Stockport is seeking an Online Maths Tutor to work on a part time basis.

With widespread school closures having taken place once again due to Covid-19, tutors are required in order to close the attainment gaps for pupils.

Working remotely, the role will involve tutoring children across a wide range of ages and abilities. Many of these pupils will be from disadvantaged backgrounds. The tutoring will take place mainly with GCSE students, though there may also be some opportunity to work with

Applications are encouraged from the following candidates:

  • Qualified Maths Teachers.
  • Maths Graduates, who are looking to gain further experience tutoring.
  • Tutors/Mentors who are seeking further work within this capacity.

It is essential that the required candidate is able to develop student understanding through:

  • The setting of clear and obtainable goals and learning objectives.
  • Implementing tasks that allow students to problem solve independently, offering support when the student requires it.

Pay - Between GBP18 and GBP25 hourly.

As a Maths tutor, strong knowledge of Maths curriculum and examination board expectations is crucial. As many of the students may have SEN, tactics will need to be applied in order to ensure that the needs of these students are met. The tutor will need to look to instil confidence into their learners, using positive reinforcement and praise to encourage and motivate pupils.

The school is located in Stockport – it is important to note that whilst this is a remote role, applications can only be accepted from applicants who live within the Greater Manchester area. All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
