Higher Level Teaching Assistant – Sturminster Newton

Teaching Personnel is currently recruiting for a confident and dedicated Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join a welcoming school in Sturminster Newton.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Teaching Assistant or current HLTA who is looking to take on greater responsibility within the classroom and play an active role in supporting pupils' learning, development and wellbeing.

The Role

As a Higher Level Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teaching staff to provide high-quality support across the school. Your responsibilities may include:

• Leading whole-class and small-group learning activities
• Covering lessons during teacher absence and PPA time
• Delivering targeted interventions to support pupil progress
• Providing 1:1 support where required
• Supporting pupils with SEND and additional learning needs
• Assisting teachers with lesson planning and preparation
• Promoting positive behaviour and effective classroom routines
• Monitoring pupil engagement and progress
• Providing feedback to teachers regarding pupil development
• Encouraging pupils to become confident and independent learners
• Creating a positive, inclusive and supportive learning environment

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for someone who is:

• An experienced Teaching Assistant or HLTA
• Confident leading lessons, activities and small groups
• Comfortable supporting pupils with a range of abilities and needs
• Patient, approachable and adaptable
• Able to establish positive relationships with pupils
• Confident managing classroom behaviour and routines
• Organised and able to work effectively as part of a wider school team
• Passionate about helping children and young people achieve their potential

An HLTA qualification is desirable, although experienced Teaching Assistants with strong classroom experience and the confidence to take on additional responsibilities are encouraged to apply.
