Higher Level Teaching Assistant – Christchurch
Teaching Personnel is looking for a confident and dedicated Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to support pupils within a school in Christchurch.
This role would suit an experienced Teaching Assistant or HLTA who enjoys taking responsibility, leading activities and providing consistent support to pupils. You will become an important member of the school team, working closely with teachers to create a positive and engaging learning environment.
Your Responsibilities
You will have the opportunity to:
- Lead planned lessons and learning activities when required
- Provide targeted support to individuals and small groups
- Deliver interventions designed to improve pupil progress
- Support classroom teachers with lesson preparation and organisation
- Cover classes during teacher absence and PPA time
- Encourage positive behaviour and good learning habits
- Support pupils with SEND and additional learning needs
- Monitor pupil development and communicate progress to teaching staff
- Build strong, positive relationships with pupils
- Help create an inclusive classroom where every pupil is encouraged to succeed
The Ideal Candidate
We're looking for someone who is:
- Experienced within a primary or secondary school environment
- Confident leading groups of pupils
- Comfortable taking responsibility for classroom activities
- Patient, approachable and supportive
- Strong in communication and behaviour management
- Adaptable and able to respond to different pupil needs
- Passionate about education and helping pupils achieve their potential
An HLTA qualification is desirable, but strong classroom experience will also be considered.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
