Higher Level Teaching Assistant – Bournemouth
Full-Time | Long-Term Opportunity
Teaching Personnel is currently recruiting for an experienced and enthusiastic Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join a welcoming school in Bournemouth on a full-time basis.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Teaching Assistant or current HLTA who is ready to take on greater responsibility within the classroom and play a key role in supporting teaching and learning across the school.
The Role
As an HLTA, you will work closely with teaching staff and pupils, taking an active role in delivering learning and supporting the wider classroom environment. Responsibilities may include:
- Covering lessons during teacher absence and PPA time
- Leading whole-class and small-group learning activities
- Delivering targeted interventions to support pupil progress
- Supporting pupils with additional learning needs and SEND
- Working alongside teachers to plan and prepare engaging activities
- Providing effective classroom management and behaviour support
- Monitoring pupil progress and providing feedback to teaching staff
- Supporting pupils to develop confidence, independence and positive learning behaviours
- Contributing to a safe, inclusive and stimulating school environment
About You
The successful candidate will ideally have:
- Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant or HLTA
- Experience working within a school environment
- Confidence leading learning activities and covering classes
- Strong communication and classroom management skills
- The ability to work effectively with pupils of varying abilities
- A positive, flexible and proactive approach
- A genuine commitment to supporting children to achieve their potential
HLTA qualifications are desirable, although experienced Teaching Assistants with significant classroom experience are encouraged to apply.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
