Are you an aspiring Teaching Assistant, who has previous voluntary experience, but is seeking paid work within primary schools? Perhaps you are looking for a first step into primary education, with a view to start a Teaching Assistant course?

Teaching Personnel are actively looking to recruit proactive, reliable and punctual midday meal supervisors for a lovely primary school in Redbridge. This position would be on a part-time and long term basis, with the opportunity to potentially also support within the classroom.

The hours for a midday meal supervisor would be 11:45am - 1:15pm, Monday to Friday.

Responsibilities:

  • To ensure the security, safety and well being, and care of the pupils of the school and to promote their social, emotional and physical development during the lunch time period.
  • To supervise pupils, during the lunch period, in dining hall, playground areas and school premises, ensuring the safety, welfare, physical and mental well-being of pupils and the maintenance of good order and discipline.
  • To arrange and supervise appropriate play and physical activities under the direction of the Coordinator
  • To organise dinner queue and ensure calm and orderly entrance of pupils into dining hall and from dining hall to playground:
  • To encourage all pupils to eat but especially those with special needs or disabilities, and to assist children with cutting up food, opening tubs, pouring water etc. where appropriate to e.g. age of child, needs of child, as necessary
  • To treat each student in an age appropriate manner
  • Implementing toileting programmes where necessary
  • Working and interacting with the children
  • To undertake any other duties consistent with the purpose of the job.

A successful candidate will:

  • Have a Child Workforce DBS on the update service or ready to apply for one in the near future
  • Have paid/voluntary experience within a school
  • Be reliable and flexible

Extra consideration will be made for candidates:

  • Looking to develop a career within educational which we can assist with along the way
  • With experience working with SEN or behaviour management
  • Who are able to offer extra curricular activities, for example sport/music/mentoring etc
