Are you enthusiastic about supporting young people with special educational needs?
Teaching Personnel are currently looking for aspiring Mental Health Support Workers that are looking to build support experience within an educational setting with immediate start dates. Within these roles you would be working aside experienced support staff and teachers to deliver high quality and individualised education to pupils with a variety of complex needs socially, emotionally and academically. The school is based in central Manchester and accommodates pupils aged 10 – 16 and are currently out of mainstream schooling due to various social, emotional and mental health needs, and so require additional support when in school. They have small classroom sizes, allowing the students to have tailored learning best suited to their needs.
Responsibilities:
- Provide 1 to 1 and small group support to students with challenging behaviour and SEMH needs based on their EHCP’s and personal goals
- Assist the classroom staff to deliver structured lessons
- Implement behaviour strategies and techniques in line with the school’s policies
- Foster a supportive and inclusive classroom environment
- Build positive relationships with students and staff
For this role you should:
- Have previous experience working with individuals with social, emotional and mental health needs
- Have experience working with young people with ASC or autistic traits
- Have a team teach qualification or experience with difficult behaviour
- Be confident in dealing with deescalating challenging behaviour
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
