Exciting Opportunity: Maths Graduate Teaching Assistants

Are you a recent Maths graduate with a passion for education and a desire to inspire the next generation of mathematicians? Do you have a strong academic background in Maths and the enthusiasm to support students in their learning journey? We are seeking dedicated Maths Graduate Teaching Assistants to join an Ofsted good secondary school in Stockport on a full-time basis. This rewarding role is available to start in September and will continue until the end of the academic year, with the potential for the position to become permanent based on performance and school requirements.

Role Overview:

As a Maths Graduate Teaching Assistant, you will have the opportunity to work closely with experienced teachers to support the delivery of Maths lessons and provide tailored assistance to students, helping them to develop their understanding of mathematical concepts, build confidence in their abilities, and achieve academic success. Your key responsibilities will include:

  1. Classroom Support: Assisting teachers in delivering engaging Maths lessons, providing one-to-one support to students who may require additional help, and facilitating group activities and discussions to reinforce learning objectives and promote active participation.

  2. Individualised Support: Working with students on a one-to-one basis to address specific areas of difficulty, provide targeted intervention sessions, and offer personalised guidance and feedback to help them overcome challenges and reach their full potential in Maths.

  3. Resource Preparation: Assisting in the preparation and organisation of Maths resources and materials, including worksheets, interactive activities, and visual aids, to support teaching and learning objectives and enhance the overall classroom experience for students.

  4. Assessment and Feedback: Supporting teachers in assessing student progress, marking assignments and assessments, and providing constructive feedback to students to help them understand their strengths and areas for improvement in Maths.

  5. Behaviour Management: Implementing positive behaviour management strategies within the classroom, promoting a supportive and inclusive learning environment, and fostering positive relationships with students to encourage their engagement and participation in Maths lessons.

  6. Collaborative Working: Collaborating with Maths department colleagues to share insights, exchange ideas, and contribute to the development of innovative teaching approaches and strategies to enhance the teaching and learning of Maths across the school.

Requirements:

  • A degree in Mathematics or a related subject with a strong academic background and a genuine passion for Maths education.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents/carers, and effectively support the learning needs of diverse student groups.
  • Adaptability, resilience, and a proactive attitude, with the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team, take initiative, and respond positively to challenges and changing priorities in a fast-paced school environment.
  • An enthusiasm for working with young people and making a positive impact on their academic and personal development, with a commitment to promoting high standards of achievement and fostering a love of learning in Maths.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
