As a Behaviour Mentor, you will play a vital role in supporting students to overcome barriers to learning and achieve their full potential. You will work closely with individuals and groups of students to provide behaviour management support, guidance, and intervention strategies. Your responsibilities will include:

  2. Individual Support: Providing one-to-one mentoring and support to students with behavioural difficulties, helping them to develop self-regulation skills, manage emotions, and make positive choices.

  3. Group Interventions: Facilitating group sessions and workshops aimed at developing social skills, conflict resolution strategies, and emotional resilience among students.

  4. Collaboration: Working collaboratively with teaching staff, SENCOs, and other support staff to develop and implement personalised behaviour support plans for students, ensuring consistency and continuity of support.

  5. Monitoring and Reporting: Monitoring the progress and behaviour of students, collecting relevant data, and providing regular feedback to teachers and senior leaders to inform intervention strategies and support plans.

  6. Crisis Intervention: Responding effectively to crisis situations, de-escalating conflicts, and providing immediate support and intervention where necessary to ensure the safety and well-being of students and staff.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with young people in a similar role, such as a behaviour mentor, youth worker, or teaching assistant, is desirable but not essential.
  • A genuine passion for supporting the social, emotional, and behavioural needs of young people and a commitment to making a positive difference in their lives.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, colleagues, and parents/carers.
  • Resilience, patience, and the ability to remain calm under pressure, with a proactive and solution-focused approach to managing challenging behaviour.
  • Flexibility and adaptability, with the willingness to work collaboratively as part of a team and respond effectively to the changing needs of students and the school community.

Benefits:

  • Competitive weekly salary ranging from £419.25 to £500, depending on experience and qualifications.
  • Full-time position available to start in September and continue until the end of the academic year, with the potential for the role to become permanent based on performance and school requirements.
  • Professional development and training opportunities provided by Teaching Personnel to enhance your skills and knowledge in behaviour management and youth support.
  • The opportunity to work within a supportive and dynamic school environment, gaining valuable experience and making a meaningful impact on the lives of students.
