Teaching Personnel are in the process of looking to work with maths graduates for a client school in Hull. The Hull school works with pupils with challenging behaviour and serves as an alternative provision for pupils who are excluded from mainstream education. The students you will be working with could have SEMH related issues and will require a patient and resilient approach to teaching. The work will mostly function within a 1:1 setting, although it is possible that you may also operate within small groups.
About the role:
As an intervention specialist, your role will be targeted at delivering excellent 1:1 and small group work for the purpose of raising attainment amongst low achieving pupils. This work will involve primarily around maths as the client school is looking to add an additional Maths specialist to their staffing list.
Other duties may include, but are not limited to:
- Working with children who are struggling with challening behaviour to achieve academic results that will enable them to pass and progress with their education.
- Coordinating activities with teachers and other relevant stakeholders where necessary to ensure a linked up and interconnected learning plan is in place for pupils.
- Act as a positive role model for students, offering encouragement and positive plans to improve students learning outcomes.
- Be fully committed to the welfare of children at all times.
The Ideal Candidate:
The successful candidate will…
- Have experience working with children, either in a tuition setting or alternatively within a classroom setting.
- Be calm and able to deal with difficult behaviour where appropriate and remain calm within the classroom.
- Be always adaptable and able to change plans when dealing with students, to facilitate the best learning outcome.
- Work to build a strong report with students and where possible build an enjoyable learning experience.

All applicants will require the appropriate qualification and training for this role. For teacher roles, we require a formally recognised teaching qualification. For Support staff our minimum requirement is GCSE English & Maths (A-C) or equivalent.
All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay.
