Maths Graduate - Maths Teaching Assistant
Job description
This vacancy has now expired. Please see similar roles below...
Teaching Personnel are working in collaboration with our partner secondary school in Oldham to help in the appointment of a Maths Graduate or Maths Teaching Assistant to work in their Maths department from September 2019 onwards.
The position is being offered as initially a 12-month rolling contract, but dependant on the preferences of the applicants and their future aspirations, it could lead to working at the school on a permanent basis or support for an upcoming teacher training programme.
What would the position entail?
- Providing support to students during Mathematics lessons, either on a 1:1 or small group basis
- Delivering pre-planned Mathematics lessons to KS3 students
- Covering sections of lessons in the absence of other teaching staff
- Support GCSE students with examination preparations including booster and revision sessions
- Engaging with the overall success and presentation of the Maths department
This position would be ideal for Maths Graduates with aspirations of progressing into teacher training as the school will provide support to the successful applicant similarly to newly qualified Maths teachers who would join the school; including a designated mentor who will provide regular feedback and support during the placement along with sharing best practice. Although Maths graduates would be very suitable for this post, holding a degree in Mathematics is NOT a requirement of the post and those with experience as Maths tutors or mentors would also be welcome to apply providing they are confident supporting students in Mathematics and covering lessons in Mathematics.
Anyone wishing to be taken into consideration for this post should respond to this email with their CV/covering letter at their earliest convenience as the school will be looking to meet with interested candidates as early as next week.
