Mathematics Teacher

Teaching Personnel are currently working on behalf of a secondary Mainstream School in Windsor, Berkshire who are seeking a passionate Mathematics Teacher to join the department in September 2020.

About the Mathematics Department:

The Mathematics Department consists of eight members of staff. The department are known as a dedicated and supportive team, they are committed to continually raising standards. In September 2017, the department moved to a newly refurbished block consisting of six classrooms each equipped with a SMARTboard. The Maths Office is a central and functional venue where many ideas are discussed and resources are shared. There is also a dedicated room for sixth form students to study. The subject is taught to all students of all abilities, from those who experience particular difficulties to those who wish to study Mathematics at university.

At GCSE they follow the EDEXCEL linear course. The shcools starts the GCSE course when students arrive in Year 9. The schools results at GCSE are typically strong and above National average. In 2019, 81% of students achieved grades 9-4 and 19% gained grades 7-9. The results show how teachers add value with the majority of students achieving and exceeding expected levels of progress.

In 2018, Ofsted stated that “In mathematics, pupils’ progress was significantly above the national average.”

About the candidate

The successful candidate would be expected to teach maths across the complete age and ability range. Maths ‘A’ Level is one of the most popular post-16 options at the school, and many also choose to do Further Maths.

• Teachers require relevant teaching qualifications (PGCE or QTS) specialising in Mathematics or Statistics
• Experience teaching for a minimum of a year at secondary school level (KS3 to KS5) is needed
• All applicants must be willing and able to travel to Windsor, via public or personal transport
• Must be available for a full time position, starting in September
• Require an enhanced child workforce DBS
• Can produce a 6 year career history and two references from teaching roles

The senior leadership at this secondary school are looking for a strong Maths teacher who can maintain the good standards of teaching. There is a good behaviour policy at the school that both prevents and manages challenging behaviour in the classroom. Teachers are provided with any resources and assistance they may require, whether it is additional support in the classroom or more teaching resources.
