Makaton Trained Teaching Assistant
Job description

Do you have a passion for supporting pupils with special educational needs?
If so, Teaching Personnel is looking for an experienced and dedicated SEN Learning Support Assistant to work on a 1-1 basis with a primary school pupil with Autism starting in January.
Due to this individual pupils level of need the school requires a candidate with previous experience supporting children with severe Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). The pupil is non-verbal and struggles to communicate, so a working knowledge of Makaton is essential. Formal Makaton training is not essential but highly beneficial; if you have SEN experience and knowledge of Makaton but no formal qualifications then your application is still welcome and will be considered. The pupil is in Year 2 and works on an individualised curriculum so pro-activeness, dedication and a nurturing personality are essential qualities. There are no violent behavioural traits but the pupil can be lively at times, so plenty of energy and a good sense of humour are required!
The school is a fully inclusive, unique and diverse learning community that looks to provide the best possible support in enabling its pupils to achieve their best. It is a larger than average primary school located in the Woolwich area of South East London, very close to easily accessible train lines and bus routes. This primary school looks to develop curiosity and creativity in their pupils, encouraging them to be life long learners, taking pride in every child that attends. Through this they provide a rich learning environment and an enjoyable and supportive school to work in.
If you are interested in being put forward for this position please submit your CV (inclusive of a brief cover letter with why you would be good for the job) via the links provided. The consultant working with the school will be in touch over the summer holidays to discuss registration and the position!
Teaching Personnel is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. All candidates must undertake or have undertaken a valid enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. Full assistance provided.
