An Exciting new opportunity to work in the education sector, supporting young people with additional needs.

WHAT: Learning Support Mentors needed to guide pupils with Social, emotional and  problems and learning difficulties across multiple Key Stage groups (age 4-16)

WHERE: Plymouth

WHEN:  ASAP

Our Partner School who provides bespoke, enriching curriculum to pupils are looking for new staff to join their growing team. The school has an emphasis on outdoor, creative learning and provides and engaging platform for children to grow.

The Role:

  • Based Specialist School in Plymouth
  • Full time Monday to Friday 8.30am - 3:00pm (Term time)
  • Immediate Start
  • Support children with learning difficulties, emotional difficulties, academics and well-being 
  • Training provided - safeguarding level 2, team teach, autism awareness 

Previous experience working with Children or Adults with additional needs is preferred but not essential. Candidates with backgrounds in sports, youth work, care, nursing, coaching, drama and personal experience with children are welcome! Your personality and attitude is a key factor when choosing the successful Candidate. A minimum of core GCSE’s is required.

The job of a Learning Support Mentor is a vital role in education it bridges the gap between teacher and student to digest information, motivate and encourage to fulfil their potential. This teaching assistant role consists of working 1:1 and in small groups with children with either challenging behaviour or special educational needs. You will build a rapport with the child in order to gain their attention and help them focus on the work, aiding their learning. The types of special needs you will be supporting are autism, ADHD, hearing and visual impairment, social and emotional and mental health! 

You:

  • Must have an enhanced DBS (assistance provided)
  • A minimum of core GCSE's
  • Provide 2 recent references

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
