Education Assistant - Pupil Referral Unit (PRU)

Teaching Personnel is seeking an enthusiastic Education Assistant to join our team and work within one of our Pupil Referral Unit Schools in Plymouth. As an Education Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting students' engagement in daily lessons, acting as a positive role model and contributing to their overall wellbeing.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the individual needs of students are met within the classroom environment.
  • Provide day-to-day support to students, fostering a nurturing and inclusive atmosphere.
  • Assist students in their wider development, including social and emotional growth.
  • Build positive and supportive relationships with students, promoting a sense of belonging and security.
  • Accompany students on school trips and community outings, facilitating their learning experiences beyond the classroom.

Requirements:

  • Compassion and empathy towards students facing challenges.
  • Ability to remain calm and adaptable in varied situations.
  • High level of emotional resilience to effectively support students' diverse needs.
  • Previous experience in nursing, mental health work, or youth work is advantageous.
  • Commitment to working Monday to Friday in a dynamic educational setting.

Requirements for Employment:

  • A valid Child Workforce DBS subscribed to the Update Service is essential for clearance.
  • Full assistance provided for DBS application, at a standard cost of £38 plus an annual £13 subscription fee for the Update Service.
