Do you have experience working as a teaching assistant and a passion for supporting vulnerable young people in a classroom environment?
A secondary school in the heart of Stockport is seeking to employ a Learning Support Assistant on a full-time permanent basis to help support vulnerable students in the classroom, working to help them keep up with their peers and achieve their academic potential. The start date for this role is after Easter 2021, and the successful candidate will be working full time with students across years 7-11 with a spectrum of special requirements that may cause them to fall behind.
The candidate who progresses will be tasked with working alongside regular classroom teachers, SEN coordinators and other members of the schools senior leadership team to provide the best possible support for students deemed vulnerable to falling behind. The successful candidate will work primarily in the classroom, as well as providing one-on-one and small group intervention support outside of the classroom. Vulnerable children may also require additional programmes of work to be set for completion outside of the classroom. All of this is key in going towards raising academic attainment in supported students alongside encouraging positive behaviour and raising self-esteem and inclusion.

- Experience supporting young people with Special Educational Needs including English as an Additional Language requirements
- Experience supporting young people with Social and Emotional Mental Health requirements
- Experience supporting young people with behavioural difficulties
- Experience as a teaching assistant in a classroom environment
The successful candidate will join a secondary school in the heart of Stockport with an ethos of promoting knowledge and positive attitudes towards learning, as well as the inclusivity of cultures. With an Ofsted report rating of ‘Outstanding’ and results ‘Well Above Average’ in Progress 8 scores, the school will want candidates to adopt their high standards in the support they provide and promote these standards in the students they assist.
The school is easily accessible by car, as it’s located a short drive from the A34 with links to nearby motorways. The school is also located a 0.8 mile walk from Cheadle Hulme station for any candidates looking to utilise public transport.
