Learning Support Assistant – Secondary School – Manchester

A supportive and inclusive secondary school in Manchester is looking for a compassionate Learning Support Assistant to join their team and provide vital assistance to students with additional learning needs. This role offers the opportunity to make a significant positive impact on students' educational journeys.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide one-to-one or small group support to students with special educational needs (SEN), helping them access the curriculum effectively.

• Adapt and prepare learning materials under the guidance of teaching staff to support individual learning plans.

• Assist with classroom activities, promoting active participation and engagement.

• Monitor and record student progress, providing feedback to teachers and SEN coordinators.

• Foster positive and trusting relationships with students to support their confidence, independence, and social development.

• Support behaviour management strategies to maintain a safe and productive learning environment.

• Collaborate with teachers, parents, and external professionals to ensure holistic student support.

Candidate Requirements:

• Experience working with SEN students or in a similar educational support role is preferred.

• Patience, empathy, and a nurturing approach to working with young people.

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

• Willingness to undertake training and professional development.

• DBS clearance is mandatory prior to starting the role.

Contract Details:

• Term time, with flexible options for part-time or full-time hours.

• Competitive hourly rate based on experience.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
