Behaviour Support Mentor – Secondary School
Location: Manchester
Salary: £89 - £100 per day
Start Date: September 2025
Contract Type: Full-time, term-time only
A dynamic and inclusive secondary school in inner Manchester is seeking a Behaviour Support Mentor to work with students at risk of disengagement or exclusion. This pastoral role focuses on early intervention and restorative approaches to behaviour, working both in-class and through targeted 1:1 mentoring.
Key Responsibilities:

Support students in crisis or displaying challenging behaviour using de-escalation techniques and school policy

Deliver structured mentoring sessions focusing on emotional literacy, resilience, and social skills

Collaborate with SEN, pastoral and safeguarding staff to develop personalised behaviour plans

Reintegrate pupils returning from fixed-term exclusions back into a positive learning routine
What We’re Looking For:

Background in youth work, support work, alternative provision, or school inclusion roles
-
Awareness of issues impacting young people including trauma, anxiety, or SEMH needs
-
Ability to remain calm and professional under pressure and provide consistent boundaries
-
Previous experience with restorative approaches or Team Teach training is a bonus

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
