Are you an English or Maths graduate potentially thinking about completing a PGCE in the future? Would you like to work in an English or Maths department of a Secondary school and provide specialised support?
- Full and part time Learning Support Mentor rolls available
- Providing targeted tuition to pupils aged 11-16 within their English and Maths Studies
- Earn between £250 - £300 per week
Teaching Personnel are working on behalf of one of our client Secondary schools to provide Learning Mentors to support identified pupils and small groups with their English and Maths studies. These positions are ideal for English and Maths graduates keen to use their degree in an education setting whilst gaining more experience as a learning support assistant.
The main duty of this role will be to work with Year 11 pupils to help them prepare for their GCSE examinations. Some of the pupils are considered 'disadvantaged' so previous experience and/or knowledge of overcoming barriers to learning is preferable. Further, you must be able to establish rapport with pupils quickly and being able to display empathy to the barriers they face.
The school is situated in the Pemberton area of Wigan which offers good accessibility to the surrounding areas via the M6. There are also excellent public transport links to Wigan town centre and Orrell/Billinge.
