Learning mentor

Learning mentor required for September 18 start at Oldham secondary school.

Due to a restructuring in our client schools support department, there is an opening for a learning mentor to join them from September to work with identified students who are behind their target grades moving in to the new academic year.

- Full time position, September 2018 start date

- Pay in line with previous experience (£1000 - £1300 a month)

- Work with experienced managers and teaching staff to get the best results for the students

As a learning mentor, the successful applicant will be responsible for providing support and guidance to schools pupils who are having difficulties in their learning, mainly due to social, emotional and behaviour problems. There will be a number of responsibilities in the post including identifying and mentoring select pupils as well as the discussing the aims of the mentoring with the pupils. A Learning Mentor will support under-performing pupils during classes and outside of the classroom, helping to increase the confidence and self-esteem by listening to them and encouraging strategies to help them be successful in school.

The most desirable applicants for this post will have previous experience working with young people; ideally supporting them academically, though previous experience in a school setting isn't a necessity. The school are also keen on a graduate looking to progress their career in education as they have strong links to teacher training providers and could help support someone on their journey to become a qualified teacher.
