Learning Mentor

 A rewarding role for an individual who has a true passion for supporting the learning of young people who are in need of additional support at a supportive mainstream secondary school.

The role will entail supporting a small group of pupils in Year 11 on a full-time basis Monday to Friday starting in March 2020 until July 2020. The students you will be supporting will have mild to moderate learning and behavioural difficulties including ADHD and SEMH which means they struggle to engage in lessons.

The incoming Learning Mentor will join a smaller than average secondary school located in the Swinton area of Salford, with a team of teachers and pastoral staff who are committed to the learning and development of its pupils. 

The Learning Mentor role will involve:

• Delivery of appropriate non-teaching support in classroom and in separate classrooms when required.

• Working with students with additional support needs in small groups and on a 1:1, providing tailored learning support in accordance with the leaners education plans. 

• Motivating students and  promoting a positive learning environment. Alongside this, you must have a flexible approach to learning in order to adapt to each pupils needs.

• Paid GBP1200 a month

Requirements for the Learning Mentor role:

• Experience of working with young people with learning needs and/or challenging behaviour in a similar role e.g. youth work, tutoring,  social care, scouts/brownies etc.

• Enthusiasm and commitment to all tasks undertaken and a strong team player

• A desire to help young people reach their full potential in secondary education
