SEMH Teaching Assistant – KS3 PRU (Salford)

Location: Salford
Contract: Full time 
Start Date: January                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                    Salary: £90 -£100 per day

Teaching Personnel is seeking a confident and resilient SEMH Teaching Assistant to join a KS3 Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) in Salford. This setting supports children who have been excluded or are at risk of exclusion from mainstream education. Many pupils present with challenging behaviour and complex social, emotional, and mental health needs, so we are looking for someone who can make a real difference.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide tailored support to pupils with behavioural needs in a PRU environment.
  • Assist with reintegration plans to help pupils transition back into mainstream education.
  • Implement strategies to manage challenging behaviour calmly and effectively.
  • Work closely with teachers and support staff to create a positive learning environment.

Requirements:

  • Experience working with challenging behaviour (PRU, SEMH, or similar settings preferred).
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure, with a patient and empathetic approach.
  • Strong communication and resilience skills.
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (essential).
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
