Youth Worker – Oldham
We are seeking an energetic, supportive and proactive Youth Worker to engage and mentor young people across the Oldham community.
In this role, you will help promote positive behaviour, build life skills and support personal development in a safe and engaging environment.
Key Responsibilities
• Provide support, mentoring and guidance to young people aged 8–18.
• Build positive, empowering relationships that encourage confidence and aspiration.
• Support young people with behavioural, emotional, social or learning needs.
• Assist with planning and delivering structured activities, workshops and youth sessions.
• Use restorative, strengths-based and relationship-focused approaches.
• Work collaboratively with schools, families, social care and external agencies.
• Maintain safeguarding documentation, behaviour records and session notes.
Essential Requirements
• Experience working with children or young people in youth work, SEN, social care or behavioural settings.
• A calm, consistent and relatable approach.
• Availability Monday–Friday.
• Understanding of safeguarding, risk and the challenges faced by young people.
• Strong communication and rapport-building skills.
Preferred but Not Essential
• Experience supporting young people affected by SEMH, challenging behaviour or social exclusion.
• Knowledge of behaviour management, de-escalation and structured youth engagement strategies.
• Ability to plan creative, engaging workshops or group activities.
Vetting & Compliance
Standard checks required:
• Two years of references.
• Enhanced DBS (Update Service preferred).
• Overseas checks if applicable.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
