I am currently working with a special educational needs school in Kirklees who are looking to appoint a KS2 Teacher in September 2020. The school is an all age generic special school catering for children aged 2-19 with a wide range of needs including moderate and severe learning difficulties, complex and multiple needs, autism and aspergers.
The school has a large central site where the majority of students attend, some students attend the school's partnered mainstream sites to give students the opportunity to access mainstream learning should their abilities allow.
As a KS2 class teacher you you will be required to plan lessons appropriate to all students to be taught and in line with educational healthcare plans (EHCPs) taking full part in joint planning where appropriate, teach planned lessons to assigned pupils ensuring you meet their educational needs, monitor and assess students progress continually to inform future planning. Build positive relationships with students while establishing a learning culture within the classroom that allows children to feel encouraged to excel, positively supported and safe. You will be required to teach at P Scales and the national curriculum using a variety of teaching styles to stimulate interest and ensure full class participation and advising other class support staff in the preparation of learning resources.
The ideal candidate will:
- Have Qualified teacher status in the UK.
- Have relevant SEN experience, training or knowledge.
- Be able to teach at P Scales and National Curriculum level.
- Have evidence of further recent professional development.
- Display best practice in delivery of teaching to pupils with complex special needs.
- Be confident in managing classroom support staff and providing direction where needed.
- Demonstrate a teaching style that is inclusive, stimulating and encouraging for all students.
- Hold an advanced DBS on the update service or be willing to apply for one.
