Upper KS2 Teaching Assistant Vacancy
This position will be to start in January 2020 and has the potential to transition into a permanent role.
The role will be to work with small groups of children in Year 5 and 6 supporting their development in Reading, Writing and Mathematics.
The children you will support are working below age expected levels and so you will have to be able to plan and differentiate the Curriculum in preparation for the Y6 SATs.

The School:
The School is located just outside Preston town centre.. It is an average sized primary setting offering entry from Reception level to Y6. This is a one-form entry primary school which has a mixed catchment area. The children who arrive in school are on the majority well behaved but there is a higher number of children from socially deprived backgrounds with access to Pupil Premium Funding. There are also a number of children with allocated funding through an Education Plan and the SEN register. This being said, the level of academic and social attainment is considered to be GOOD by Ofsted and the Leadership and quality of Teaching and Learning is consistently graded GOOD by Ofsted. The Head teacher in school has been in role for a number of years and is consistent in her approach to supporting her teachers and the children who attend school. On arrival in school you will be met by the office staff who are polite and happy to answer any questions; they are also keen to check vetting and compliance so you must have a DBS on the update service and have relevant photo ID.
The Role:
This is an exciting opportunity which will allow you to make a difference to individual children on a daily basis. You will work collectively with the School’s SENCO and Year 5 & 6 class teachers to plan for individual children with a variety of needs and special educational needs. The children who require support are mostly working below expected levels and so you will be working at Y3 and Y4 levels. You will be expected to take small groups and individual children out of the classroom and work with them in a separate classroom/intervention area. You will be given the opportunity to inform the class teacher and SENCO of individual progress. You will also be able to meet with the children’s parents and inform them of progress.

You must have; Qualified Teacher Status; Experience in KS2; Intervention or small grouped experience; strong behaviour management; flexibility in working on a part time basis 3 hours per day. All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
