Key Stage 2 Teaching Assistant
The Head Teacher and governing body of an Ofsted graded 'GOOD' primary school situated just outside of Blackburn town centre are looking to source a dedicated KS2 teaching assistant to support small groups of pupils in the Year 5 class during lessons, to deliver interventions and to provide general classroom support to the Y5 Class Teacher. The working hours for this role are 9:00-15:30 equating to 30 working hours per week paid on a weekly basis directly by Teaching Personnel.
The Head Teacher has expressed that the ideal candidate will have experience supporting children in KS2, more specifically working alongside lower attainment pupils in order to close the gap. The school are looking for a teaching assistant with a positive attitude, a good sense of humour and who can adapt quickly to suit the needs of each child. The Head Teacher has emphasised that no two days at the school are these same; therefore this is an excellent opportunity for a candidate looking for a new and exciting opportunity and to gain further experience in upper Key Stage 2.
This is a slightly smaller than average-size primary school serving a catchment area neighbouring Blackburn town centre. Almost all pupils belong to minority ethnic groups and speak English as an additional language. The school promotes community cohesion outstandingly well and provides its pupils with excellent care, guidance and support. Its highly-effective work in these area results in pupils making an exceptionally strong contribution to the community and in the school's first-rate partnership with parents and carers.
The good behaviour of the pupils was highlighted as a strength in a recent Ofsted inspection. The pupils were described as delightful: 'They are polite and welcoming, and are eager to talk about the things that they enjoy most in school.' Senior Leaders in school are well respected by staff. This role has cropped up due to a recent resignation; therefore there is the potential to transition onto a contract depending on a successful probationary period.
