Key Stage 1 Teaching Assistant, Blackburn
Teaching Personnel are recruiting on behalf of an Ofsted graded ‘GOOD’ primary school located in Blackburn. The school SENCo is looking for a Year 2 teaching assistant to provide one-to-one support to a child with special educational needs. The role is to start as soon as possible and is planned to continue until Easter with the potential of going onto a school contract.
Role & Responsibilities
The successful candidate will work predominantly alongside a child in the Year 2 class, providing one-to-one support to enable them to access the Key Stage 1 core curriculum and assist with their speech and language needs. In addition to this, the role will require you to provide general classroom support across the Year 1 and Year 2 classes, which will include delivering small group interventions.
Working hours are from 08:30 – 15:30, Monday - Friday
Job Specification - Essential Requirements
In order to be short-listed for the position, you must have/ be the following:
- Teaching Assistant Level 2 qualification or above
- Recent experience of providing specialist support to individuals with SEN
- Recent experience working alongside children in Key Stage 1
- Confident with delivering small group interventions
- Child workforce DBS on the online update service or willing to apply for a new DBS
About the School
This larger than average primary school is located on the outskirts of Blackburn town centre and services a mixed catchment area. The proportion of pupils known to be eligible for free school meals is below the national average; however the number of pupils identified as having special educational needs is above average.
The school work hard to enable their pupils to be happy, have high self esteem and develop confidence in themselves and their abilities, so that they can handle new situations and accept the challenges that life has to offer. They want their children to enjoy school, to develop enthusiasm, perseverance and a questioning approach to life that will prepare them for the future stages in their education.
