Due to a restructure within the Humanities department our client secondary school is currently seeking a teacher of History to join their faculty on a full time basis from Easter. This position will initially be until the end of the academic year with the potential to continue in September 2018.
This is a mixed 11-16 academy based in the heart of Oldham, the school is easily accessible via the M60 motorway with a range of public transport links coming from Manchester City Centre.

- Work in a modern school with excellent facilities and provisions
- Join a school where the staff are welcoming and supportive
- Newly qualified and experienced History teachers are welcome to apply
Based in Oldham, our client school is a large secondary which was newly built recently to serve the local community. There are currently 1200 students on roll, which looks set to increase next year with a larger Year 7 cohort than previous years. The school was previously on separate sites, but merged into a purpose built state of the art site a short time ago, with a focus on teaching and learning in its design to serve the diverse catchment area and allow students to fully access the curriculum. This is a highly improved secondary school with Ofsted rating it as 'good' in leadership and management. The newly appointed head and management have reinstated the importance of high teaching standards, having a positive impact on student's behaviour and attainment.
The incoming History teacher will:
- Have UK QTS specialising in History or similar subject
- Have strong subject knowledge and experience teaching up to GCSE
- Liaise with the Head of Humanities on students performance and progress in the lessons
- Assess students frequently to ensure they are challenged to reach their expected grades
- Have excellent behaviour management skills and understand techniques to de-escalate behaviour
The Deputy Head would like to see CV's of History teachers interested in the above position, if you would like to be taken into immediate consideration please contact Kirsty at the Manchester North Secondary Office or apply via the details below;
All applicants will require the appropriate qualification and training for this role. For teacher roles, we require a formally recognised teaching qualification. For Support staff our minimum requirement is GCSE English & Maths (A-C) or equivalent.
All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay.
