Higher Level Teaching Assistant

Teaching Personnel are looking for a Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join our client school in September. The successful HLTA will take responsibility of supporting new students transitioning from Primary to Secondary and will work with individual pupils who have been identified as underperforming.
As a Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) you will be responsible for devising and implementing individual mentoring programmes to assist pupils and remove barriers to learning, gaining self-confidence and to improve their involvement and progress. You will also cover lessons in the absence of teachers, monitoring behaviour throughout lessons and feeding back to teachers on students' behaviour, attitude and progress.
We are looking for a confident and caring HLTA who is committed to raising the achievement of all students. You will have good teaching skills, excellent behaviour management skills and will be team player. You will need to have a flexible approach to learning and will be confident in covering lessons as well as working with individual pupils on a one to one and small group basis.
To apply for this role you must:
- Have HTA status (or intention to gain HLTA status upon appointment)
- Minimum C grade or above in English and Maths at GCSE or equivalent
- Be able to provide support for all pupils including those with Special Educational Needs
- Have the ability to plan and deliver structured teaching and learning activities
Our client school is a vibrant secondary school with just over 900 pupils on roll. The school is based in South Manchester and is located just a short drive from the city centre, easily accessible via public transport and Metrolinks. The school has been nationally and locally recognised for its continuous improvement and received a positive Ofsted report that judged the school to be 'Good' in all areas.
