Location: Uxbridge, Hillingdon

Salary: GBP85 - GBP125 per day dependant on experience and training

Contract type: Full Time

Contract term: 1 school term

Required for: September 2020 – December 2020 initially

Suitable for: NQTs who have not completed induction

 

About the Job:

Our special school in Uxbridge are seeking an outstanding Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to teach pupils with special needs across KS2 – KS5. The teaching role is class based with students across the school, pupils will have a range of needs including autism, severe learning needs, communication, sensory processing needs and complex behaviours.

Successful HLTAs must be confident developing relationships with SEN pupils and in managing challenging behaviours. HLTAs will teach in areas of independent living skills such as cooking, personal care and community skills. Higher level teaching assistants in this school are assisted in class by up to 2 SEN Support Assistants (SSAs) who will assist with delivering learning programmes.

About the special school (Hillingdon):

Our special school is based in Uxbridge providing both educational, residential and respite for children with special needs across Hillingdon. The school has a primary, secondary and post-16 department with a warm and caring environment, where daily life is underpinned by Christian principles.

Ofsted have ranked the school as ‘outstanding’ in 2014 and 2009 gaining praise for pupil progress, outcomes and behaviour. The school adopts a bespoke inclusive approach to education, involving parents and the local community to form an educational community that is both holistic and formal.

The school in Hillingdon are seeking a professional who is:

  • Qualified with Higher Level Teaching Assistant Level 3 (or above) or QTS  
  • Experienced and confident in leading lessons in a school setting to small group  
  • Experienced with autism, severe learning needs, communication, sensory processing needs and complex behaviours (EHCPs)
  • Ambitious and committed to the very highest standards of student learning.
  • Dedicated to supporting the vision, life and ethos of the school
