SEN Teaching assistant needed for a Rhondda Secondary School

Start Date: January 2018

Position: Long Term/Full time

Pay Rates: Up to £60 per day dependant on experience

Due to an ever-growing and expanding special education needs department there is a great opportunity to join this proud and passionate team. The SEN team is fully dedicated to enhancing the learning needs of pupils with extra educational and behavioural support. The SENCO in the school has specified the need for someone who can adapt to multiple situations and especially feel confident dealing with challenging behaviour.

The School and Position:

  • Role starting Janurary 2018 with possibilities of becoming permanent.
  • Special education needs department working with pupils that have various Special Educational Needs such as Autism, Asperger's, ADHD as well as additional Learning Needs.
  • Special education needs teaching assistant working with up to 30% of the schools population including group and 1:1 support.
  • School works with children from 11-19 years of age.
  • Large school with approximately 1500 pupils

The successful special education needs teaching assistant and the role:

  • Educated to Degree level is preferred but not essential
  • Previous experience working with special education needs pupils is desirable
  • Be confident and have the ability to build report with pupils and act as a support function
  • Work closely with Additional needs coordinator and SEN team
  • Show a passion for education and the capabilities to work in challenging situations
