Then being an SEN Teaching Assistant will be perfect for you!

A Charming school based in Barnet is currently looking for SEN Teaching Assistants to join their vibrant team. The National Curriculum is tailored to the individual needs of the pupil through the use of the Rising Stars Progression Framework and The Access to Education Framework. The Pupil and School Support SEN Toolkits are designed to be used in primary settings with pupils in Year One or above who are working significantly below the expected level for their age, and are not making progress towards closing the gap.

The role

The role involves supporting either a primary or secondary class of pupils with complex behavioural needs in class and across the school 1:1, 2:1 and in small groups. This additionally will include behaviour management, developing behaviour plans, adapting lessons, creating innovative resources, report taking, liaising with therapists and overall support of pupils in your care.

You will ideally need

  • Live in Barnet
  • Be able to work full-time during school term time times
  • Previous experience working as teaching assistant in mainstream schools or with children/young people with challenging behaviour
  • Hold a psychology or sociology degree
  • Confidence in behaviour management
  • Confidence in dealing with pupils with a variety of educational needs
  • Confidence supporting in Maths, English and humanities
