Graduate SEN Teaching Assistant Opportunities

Teaching Personnel are looking for enthusiastic, motivated graduate Teaching Assistants to support children with Special Educational Needs (SEN) across a range of primary, secondary and specialist schools in East Manchester.

Whether you’re a psychology, education, social sciences, health, sport or childhood studies student—or simply passionate about helping others—this is an excellent route into teaching, SEN support, educational psychology, youth work or social care.

What the role involves

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will help pupils access learning in a safe, supportive and inclusive environment. Your role may include:

  • Working alongside teachers to support classroom activities
  • Providing 1:1 or small‑group support for pupils with SEN (ASC, ADHD, communication & sensory needs, learning difficulties)
  • Supporting emotional regulation, communication and routines
  • Using creative approaches to make learning engaging and accessible
  • Helping pupils with transitions, organisation and confidence
  • Working with SENCOs and specialists such as speech therapists or behaviour teams

  • Available Monday–Friday, 8:30–15:30
  • Willing to apply for (or already have) an Enhanced DBS

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
