Pay Rate: £13.75 per hour
Job Type: Full-time, Temporary (with opportunity to go Temp to Perm)

Are you a recent graduate with a passion for supporting young people with special educational needs? Teaching Personnel is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Graduate Teaching Assistant to work in a specialist SEN school in Preston. This role is ideal for someone looking to gain valuable experience in education and make a real difference in the lives of pupils with SEN and SEMH needs.

About the Role:
You will be supporting pupils aged 5–16 with a range of special educational needs, including Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) difficulties. Your role will involve providing one-to-one and small group support, promoting positive behaviour, and helping pupils to access a personalised curriculum in a nurturing and structured environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide tailored academic and emotional support to pupils with SEN and SEMH needs.
  • Assist teachers in planning and delivering differentiated lessons.
  • Support pupils in managing their behaviour and developing self-regulation strategies.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, support staff, and external agencies.
  • Help maintain a safe, inclusive, and engaging classroom environment.

Requirements:

  • A university degree (any discipline).
  • A genuine interest in working with children with additional needs.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Patience, resilience, and a positive attitude.
  • Previous experience in a similar role (paid or voluntary) is desirable but not essential.
