Graduate Cover Supervisor - Rochdale - September 2018

Are you a recent graduate looking for further experience in a secondary school environment before enrolling on a PGCE or similar teacher training programme?

Are you looking for flexible working hours, developing your subject knowledge across KS3 and GCSE while developing your confidence?

Working as a Graduate Cover Supervisor is a great way to not only further develop your experience of working in secondary schools, but also a perfect opportunity to network with other teachers and gain further knowledge before enrolling on a PGCE and perusing a career in the education sector. We are currently recruiting on behalf of our client school in Rochdale, who require an in-house Cover Supervisor team to accommodate unplanned absences and reduce the need for external cover.

  • Full time Graduate Cover Supervisor role, starting in September.
  • Must have prior relevant experience, working with young people in an educational environment
  • Earn up to £1300 a month (dependant on experience and responsibilities)
  • Further development opportunities available through our CPD training courses and Future Teachers Programme

Our client school is a very successful large mixed school In Rochdale where all of the community are valued and all achievements are celebrated. Being an international school and a centre of excellence for languages in Greater Manchester. It has an enviable and growing reputation, both locally and nationally, as a high achieving school. the school is a short distance from Rochdale infirmary and close to major transport links from the city centre, including Rochdale railway station and Rochdale interchange.

As a Cover Supervisor, you will be working alongside the in-house cover team; covering lessons in the absence of class teachers, therefore the flexibility to work in a range of subject areas is essential. Responsibilities include:

  • Delivering pre-planned lessons of a variety of subjects, dependent on the needs and of the school on the given day (full support and instructions will be given)
  • Assist pupils with any queries or difficulties they may have regarding class work
  • Delivering strong behaviour management and ensuring pupils are acting within the lines of the expectations of the school
  • Monitor and report on engagement and progress of pupils in the class and feed back to teacher.
