Geography Teacher – Rochdale

Starting January 2020

A smaller than average, mainstream secondary school in Rochdale are currently looking to appoint a Teacher of Geography to join their teamfrom January 2020. Due to a gap in the department, the school have an open vacancy for a Humanities teacher to join their team until April2020 in the first instance, with a view to become permanent with the school after this introduction.

The school are very keen to hear from Geography teachers who have experience teaching the subject up to A-level or with other subjects such as; History, RE and PSHE, although this is not essential.

Key Aspects:

  • Full time Geography Teacher – Rochdale
  • January 2020 to April 2020 – view to be made permanent
  • Teaching Geography across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4
  • Pay in line with MPS/UPS (GBP23,720 - GBP40,490)
  • An improving and well supportive secondary school close to the centre of Rochdale
  • Vacancy open to Geography teachers of all levels

Responsibilities:

-          Teaching Geography across KS3 and KS4 in line with the national curriculum and the school’s scheme of work

-          Planning and delivering quality lessons which have clear aims/objectives

-          Adapting teaching styles to cater for all pupil abilities

-          Be confident with classroom and behaviour management

-          Able to raise attainment in subject

-          Participating in departmental meetings, training and parents evening when required

-          Acting as a positive role model, promoting the values and ethos of the school and work in line with school policies/procedures

The successful Geography teacher will receive a full, thorough induction and will be well supported in their new role.

The secondary school located in Rochdale is proudly a part of a reputable educational trust across the North West. Since becoming a part of this trust, the school has made significant progress on the whole, most noticeably in pupil attainment across all departments and in behaviour. The incoming Geography teacher will join a caring and inclusive community for both teachers and pupils. The school boats outstanding learning facilities and is looking to appoint a Geography teacher who will encourage pupils to reach their full potential through a needs-led curriculum.

The secondary school is situated just outside of Rochdale town centre, making it very accessible for all applicants. For drivers, the school is accessible via the M62 and is suited between frequent and reliable public transport links into the town centre for non drivers.
