English Future Teachers - Salford

Are you due to graduate this summer with a degree in English or an English related degree and are thinking about going into teaching?

Perhaps you don't know where to start and want to gain some paid experience as a Graduate Teaching Assistant before enrolling on to your teacher training?

Teaching Personnel are currently working in partnership with a reputable secondary school in Salford who are looking to recruit bright English graduates to join their Future Teachers Programme as a Graduate Teaching Assistant. Starting in September 2019, you will become a Graduate Teaching Assistant for 12 months in the school's English department, before having the opportunity to stay on at the same secondary school to complete your teacher training in house! The secondary school you will be placed at offers fantastic, on-site teacher training where you will receive your PGCE qualification upon completion in the summer of 2021.

Highlights of the Future Teachers Programme:

  • Offers graduates a progressive route into teaching.
  • Currently recruiting English graduates but also seeking graduates of other core subjects incl. Maths, Science, Humanities and MFL.
  • Begin your journey into teaching from Sept 2019 as a Graduate Teaching Assistant for 12 months at a fantastic secondary school in Salford - earning up to £1080 pet month!
  • Followed by the opportunity to progress onto your teacher training at the same school from September 2020.

Responsibilities of a Graduate Teaching Assistant:

  • Joining the secondary school's English department, supporting pupils across KS3 and KS4 in the subject to help raise attainment and engagement.
  • Holding small intervention sessions in your English specialism, working closely with pupils on a 1:1 basis throughout the academic year.
  • Ensuring pupil are confident and well prepared for exams throughout the year.
  • Helping class teachers plan engaging English lessons and activities, in line with the current curriculum.
  • Have the chance to plan and deliver your own English lessons!

Applicant Requirements for the Future Teachers Programme:

  • Be in the final year of your degree / due to complete studies this summer with an English related degree (e.g. English Language, Literature, Creative Writing)
  • Interested in getting into teaching but wanting to gain some practical Teaching Assistant experience beforehand.
  • An enthusiastic graduate with a genuine passion for supporting the learning of young people.
