Job description

Teaching Personnel are currently recruiting for an English Graduate to join our client school’s English department as a Teaching Assistant. This position will be a full-time position, starting in September at the start of the academic year.

The salary for this position will be between £425 and £500 per week.

The main responsibilities of this position will be to assist the school’s English department by supporting the Teacher in their lesson delivery and working with smaller groups to target their individual needs and learning plans.

The key responsibilities:

  • Assist the teacher in supporting pupils with their learning development.
  • Work with smaller groups of pupils to intervene with any issues they may be experiencing in their learning.
  • Ensure that the classroom is always a safe learning environment for pupils.
  • Ensure that children protection procedures are being followed.

The school is a mixed gendered school, located in Stockport. This school offers an excellent education to children between the ages of 11 and 18. Currently, the client school holds an Ofsted rating of 1, meaning that the education that they are providing is ‘outstanding’. 67% of their students currently achieve a grade 5 or higher in both Maths and English, this is 17% higher than the national average. The school is in a prosperous area, only 12% of their pupils are eligible for free school meals, this is less than half of the national average.

The highlight of this position is that as the school is currently performing excellently, with few social and behavioural issues, it is an ideal place for a recent graduate to develop skills as a teaching assistant. You will also be supported by both Teaching Personnel and the school in your development. For the right candidate, there is the potential for progression into teacher training, resulting in a full-time teacher position.

For this role, it is essential that you are a recent English graduate, and that you are passionate about starting a career in teaching English. You must be willing to apply for a fully enhanced DBS check, as well as provide two employment references.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
