EAL Teaching Assistant – Full-Time Role in Chorlton-cum-Hardy
Teaching Personnel is currently recruiting for an EAL (English as an Additional Language) Teaching Assistant to join an Ofsted-rated ‘Good’ secondary school in Chorlton-cum-Hardy. This is a full-time position starting immediately and continuing until the end of the academic year, with the potential for the role to be made permanent depending on performance.
Role Overview
This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals who are passionate about supporting students with English as an additional language. The successful candidate will play a key role in helping EAL students overcome language barriers and succeed academically in their studies.
The ideal candidate will work closely with teachers to support students across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 in all subject areas, particularly focusing on improving their language skills, comprehension, and confidence in speaking, reading, and writing in English.
Key Responsibilities:

Providing one-to-one and small group support to EAL students to help improve their English language skills.

Assisting students with language comprehension to ensure they fully understand lesson content across all subjects.

Supporting students in developing their speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills in English.

Collaborating with classroom teachers to adapt resources and tasks to meet the individual needs of EAL students.

Encouraging EAL students to participate confidently in classroom discussions and activities.

Assisting in monitoring and tracking the progress of EAL students and providing feedback to teaching staff.

Supporting the social and emotional needs of EAL students, helping them adjust to a new learning environment and culture.

Helping students prepare for exams and assessments, particularly in terms of language skills.

Assisting in classroom management and creating an environment where EAL students feel comfortable and supported.
Candidate Requirements:

A degree or equivalent qualification (or relevant experience) in ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages), Linguistics, or a related field.

A strong passion for working with EAL students and helping them overcome language barriers to succeed academically.

Excellent communication skills and the ability to adapt teaching methods to meet the needs of diverse learners.
-
Patience, empathy, and a proactive approach to supporting students.

Experience of working with EAL students or in a similar educational support role is desirable but not essential.

A commitment to continuous professional development and improving language learning outcomes for students.
Salary & Benefits:

Weekly pay between £446.90 - £500, depending on experience and responsibilities.
