For the new academic year 20/21, we are seeking to increase our pool of supply teachers to meet the demand of daily cover requirements. Working as a supply teacher need not be considered as a step back in your career. As a supply teacher you fundamentally contribute to the smooth running of the school day whilst ensuring students receive good quality cover lessons.

Working as a short term supply teacher will provide you with flexibility and variety without the added pressures that comes from being a full time permanent teacher.

To be a supply teacher you should:

  • Hold UK QTS or an equivalent teaching qualification
  • Have at least 6 months experience teaching in secondary schools
  • Be experienced in teaching your own subject at KS3 and KS4
  • Able to provide a 6 year career history and suitable references
  • Be willing to apply for a DBS that is registered for the update service if you do not already hold one

The following qualities are also desirable:

  • To be flexible and adaptable; able to take calls at short notice and be whiling to cover a range of subjects
  • Good classroom management skills and be able to build good rapport quickly with students and staff alike
  • Be able to absorb information quickly as well as take direction from usual school staff
  • Be able to adhere to differing school polices, implementing when necessary
  • Be able to stay calm in sometimes more stressful situations
  • Have a good sense of humour

As a Supply Teacher for Teaching Personnel, you will benefit from:

  • Fair rates of pay
  • Access to a CPD Academy to ensure you do not miss out on any training
  • Weekly pay with an online portal to manage your diary, bookings and payslips
  • Dedicated consultant who will continue to offer support and guidance
  • The choice of a variety of work including short term supply, long term supply and tuition; Teaching Personnel works in partnership with local authorities to provide 1:1 bespoke tuition programmes for students who may have SEN, considered ‘looked after’ or have access to the pupil premium.

“Very impressive. They really take the time to get to know candidates, and then suggest supply placements based on skills and experience. There is no attempt to slot staff into positions without considering whether it is a suitable position and Teaching Personnel really understand this. You feel well looked after. It's a very effective personalised approach that is really appreciate” – Candidate Review.

If you are seeking a more flexible approach to your career and are considering becoming a supply teaching, please submit your application and a consultant will be in touch within 24 hours.

All applicants will require the appropriate qualifications and training for this role. Please see teachingpersonnel.com/faqs for details.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
