Teaching Personnel are looking to register and recruit successful cover supervisors to work within our partnered secondary schools as a Cover Supervisor. We work with a number of secondary schools across the local authorities of Warrington, Wigan and Trafford with a focus and specific requirement in Warrington.
The role of a cover supervisor requires a individual who is confident, adaptable and flexible in their approach to work. The role involves covering a teacher’s timetable and classes usually on a daily basis where you will ensure students remain on task and complete the work which is set. The teacher will leave planned work and lessons for you to deliver, working in the absence of the teacher. As the cover supervisor responsible for the students you will ensure students behave as they should through confidence, and effective behaviour management strategies in line with the school’s policies.
There are part time, temporary and full time opportunities as a number of schools have requested cover supervisors to work with them for half a term or a term immediately and onwards to May 2020. This is the busiest time for these schools in regards to requiring cover in lessons.
Highlights of the cover supervisor role for graduates:
- Pay is dependent upon specific school and area but opportunity to earn up to GBP1200 per month
- Gain valuable experience working in a secondary school setting supporting a future PGCE or trainee teacher application
- Networking opportunities working alongside qualified teachers
- Work in a variety of secondary schools suited towards the individual including academic and more challenging schools in regards to behaviour
- Regular training and CPD opportunities with Teaching Personnel’s links to National Teaching Schools
The role of a cover supervisor will suit recent graduates who have some experience of engaging with young adults aged 11 – 16. This could be in a school setting, in a youth club or as a sports coach for example. Confidence is paramount as well as having a professional manner when applying yourself within a secondary school environment.
These schools are very easy to get to for those travelling from St Helens, Wigan, Warrington and Trafford with the schools being serviced by the M62, M6 and A57.
